I am a writer, trainer, and advocate with more than 30 years’ experience working in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTIQ) field. (I joined the “Gay Teachers’ Group'” in London in 1987!) I’ve taken a leading role in creating social and legal change, and have frequently represented the community in mainstream and LGBTIQ print media, and on radio and television.
I’m a member of the Victorian Ministerial LGBTI Task Force Health and Human Services Working Group that advises the government on issues of importance to the community. I was one of the founding members of the Rainbow Families Council (now Rainbow Families Victoria), and was a leading advocate in the campaign for Marriage Equality.
Currently, I run professional development training for organisations that want to provide a more welcoming and inclusive service to the LGBTIQ community, and to create a more culturally safe workplace for their LGBTIQ staff. I also provide consultancy services on achieving Rainbow Tick Accreditation.
Most recently, I coordinated the implementation of Rainbow Tick at VincentCare – a not-for-profit organisation that provides services to people experiencing homelessness, social disadvantage or family violence. VincentCare became the first Catholic organisation in Australia to achieve Rainbow Tick Accreditation.
My professional work is informed by many years of public advocacy. My strength lies in my ability to engage with groups and individuals in a respectful and non-threatening way and to take them with me on a journey of change.
This website provides detailed information about my professional services, including training design and delivery, writing and public speaking.
